Privacy Policy

Oyster Group Limited, trading as The Green (“The Green”, “we”, “us”, “our”), is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through www.thegreenauckland.co.nz (the “Site”), how we use it, and your rights, in line with New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020.

We collect personal information when you interact with the Site, including:

• Newsletter sign-up: your name and email address.
• Contact form: your name, email address, and any details you include in your message.
• From time to time, forms for specific competitions or promotions, which may ask for information such as your name, email address, and other details relevant to that competition or promotion.

We don’t collect payment or financial information through the Site.

At present, the Site does not use analytics or advertising cookies. We plan to introduce Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel in future, which would collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you visit, to help us understand how the Site is used and to show relevant ads on Facebook and Instagram. If and when these are switched on, we’ll update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent via a cookie banner.

We use the information we collect to:

• Send you The Green’s newsletter, if you’ve signed up (manually compiled and sent via Campaign Monitor).
• Respond to enquiries made through the contact form.
• Run any competitions or promotions you enter, including contacting you about your entry.
• Understand how people use the Site and improve it, once analytics tools are active.

We don’t sell your personal information. We may share it with trusted service providers who help us run the Site and our communications, including:

• Campaign Monitor, our email newsletter platform, which may store data on servers outside New Zealand.
• Google and Meta, once analytics/advertising tools are active, which may process data outside New Zealand.

We only share what’s needed for these providers to do their job, and require them to handle your information securely.

We keep personal information only for as long as it’s needed for the purpose it was collected — for example, newsletter details until you unsubscribe, and competition or promotion entry details for the duration of that competition or promotion plus a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping.

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it if it’s wrong. To do this, or with any questions about this policy, contact us through our website contact page.

If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled your personal information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
